After 40+ years working in the technology field, it almost becomes an obsession to own or at least try out technology gadgets. Having also spent the last 30 years competing in endurance sports, you want to leverage the best technology to give you performance insights during training and help you during sporting events. I have been a fan of the Garmin Fenix series of watches over the years. I have owned the Fenix 3, Fenix 5,6,7 and I now own the Fenix 8. After assembling a nice watch collection over the years, the Fenix 8 is the only watch I now wear. I wear it 24 hrs a day and with the amazing battery life only have to charge it weekly. It wakes me up each morning, it has Spotify downloads I can use while running or cycling, every workout is logged and uploaded to Strava. The main reason I upgraded from the Fenix 7 to the Fenix 8 is the new watch is rated for scuba diving with its dive computer function. The quickfit bands allow you to change the appearance from a sports watch to a watch you can wear with a suit. I chose to get the sapphire AMOLED version. At at retail cost of $1100, it’s a high end device but when you consider it’s as much of your daily life as your phone, I believe it is worth the investment.
